Custom fields for units and sources
Returned goods do not fit a fixed schema. Add your own fields to inventory and to load sources, set the type and default, and make the important ones required.

How custom fields for units and sources works

Open custom fields
Go to Custom Fields under Administration. Fields are managed separately for inventory units and for load sources.

Add a field
Click Add Field and name it. The field key is generated for you in lowercase with underscores and can be edited if your integrations expect a specific name.

Set type and rules
Choose the data type, set a default value if there is a sensible one, set the display order, and tick required for anything that must never be blank.

Use it on the floor
The field appears on the Add Inventory form straight away, so the next unit checked in captures it. Edit or delete fields as your process changes.

Questions about this feature
Condition grade, LPN, source retailer, unit retail from the manifest, whether a unit was tested, and the load reference. Anything you would otherwise keep in a side spreadsheet belongs here.
Yes. Tick the required box and the unit cannot be saved without it. That is how grading stays consistent, because nobody can skip past the grade field on a busy afternoon.
